Stamped Concrete Patios
Patios have become one of the areas of the house where stamped concrete can be found.
Stamped concrete patios have become popular among homeowners because it can make your ordinary concrete floors look
like it is being made out of another more expensive material.
Stamped concrete is concrete that is being applied with textures and patterns to resemble another kind of
material. The materials that a stamped concrete can bear semblance to are tiles, wood, brick or slate. More and
more homeowners are installing stamped concrete on their driveways, sidewalks or patios. Concrete is, perhaps, the
best material to be used for outdoor applications. One good reason is that concretes can survive the forces of
nature. It doesn’t go brittle with exposure to sunlight or rain.
For the concrete areas not to look dull and monochromatic, stamping has become a necessity. Concrete is the
cheapest alternative to other more pricey materials like tiles or brick. Since it has the ability to bear semblance
to these materials without having to spend just as much, stamped concrete have become so widely used, you may
already see it at almost any home.
Stamped concrete patios are done through various processes. One is pigmenting the concrete. By adding color to
the concrete floor surface, you may be able to achieve a look like that of natural wood or slate. Stamped concrete
patios can look very elegant and classy at a cost that is so light to the pockets.
Stamped concrete flooring is done by adding textures, colors or patterns to the concrete before it dries off
completely. Another very good thing about stamped concrete is that it is frost - resistant. Unlike the original
materials being used for patio flooring, concrete is not susceptible to freezing; hence, making it a very good
material for your patio flooring.
Although stamped concrete can look like the original wood, slate, or cobbles; one keen eye can easily detect the
imitation. Stamped concrete, unlike what some manufacturers are claiming, will not look 100% the same as that of
the original materials. From afar, perhaps, one will perceive it mistakenly as the genuine, but if looked closely,
it would be so easy to detect that it is just a good second. Yes, still good – even great for me.
Stamped concrete can provide your patios with the beauty and class you would love to have. By spending just as
little as a quarter or half the price of the original material it is imitating, you will be able to get a grand
finished stamped concrete patio.
To make sure that you will surely get what you will be paying for a stamped concrete, it is best to consider
hiring an expert fabricator to do it for you. You can also do the concrete stamping yourself, but if you do not
really have that much knowledge in the construction of one, you may need to leave that job to the pro. Of course,
just like any other material, stamped concrete also needs regular cleaning and proper maintenance to ensure its
longevity and durability.
